How Can Poverty Be Alleviated Through Sports?
Sport is the great equalizer and connector across the globe. It is proven, consistent, fair, and a realistic pathway to realizing the idea of "The American Dream" and upward mobility in any nation or society
Goal 1: No Poverty
How can poverty be alleviated through sports?
How we’re tackling this issue is by harnessing and leveraging power of sport and the opportunities created by and through it.
You can already tell by Our mission that we understand the power of sport and are dedicated to amplifying the opportunities created by it.
Quoting ourselves, “... sport is the great equalizer and connector across the globe. It is proven, consistent, fair, and a realistic pathway to realizing the idea of "The American Dream" and upward mobility in any nation or society.
We’ve seen sports provide the platform for someone going from being homeless to becoming a billionaire, and giving a way out for a refugee born into a civil war torn society and away from circumstances that do everything possible to hold her back and restrict her ability to escape them.
Upward mobility and sports have so many similarities. Working your way “up” through effort, skill, and talent shouldn’t be hindered by the circumstances we’re born into. A fair society allows us to have a chance even if the result isn’t guaranteed. Sport is the greatest most universal chance accessible to all.
Education also helps to uplift us from our circumstances, and sport provides a direct and realistic path to a better education and future.
“Sport brings access to the education we're unable to otherwise afford and a reason to even pursue one in the first place. Sport teaches us discipline and how to bounce back from failure. It teaches us how to work for the greater good of the team and that today's sacrifice is worth the rewards of tomorrow.”
The power of sport on a global scale has the power to change and shift lives using a universal language we all share and understand. By increasing the opportunities of sport, we’re also providing better futures, opportunities, and chipping away at poverty on an individual and on a global scale.
